Dakota Johnson's Journey with Depression and How Chris Martin Became Her RockUS Prime Press

When things get tough, Dakota Johnson can always rely on her boyfriend, Chris Martin, to be there for her. The actress, known for her role in “Fifty Shades of Grey” and her openness about her struggles with depression, recently shared how the Coldplay singer supported her during a Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF) event.

Speaking at the 17th annual luncheon, Johnson recounted a moment when she was feeling down a few weeks ago. Despite trying to play it off, Martin sensed that something was off. He asked her if she was really struggling, to which she initially responded with a “No.” However, Martin, being attentive, pointed out that she was wearing a cats T-shirt related to the musical “Cats.” That realization helped lift her spirits, and she expressed gratitude for his support.

Johnson received the HOPE Award for Depression Advocacy during the event, acknowledging her openness about living with depression and anxiety. In her acceptance speech, she emphasized the importance of eliminating the stigma around mental health issues. She highlighted the need for understanding and supporting each other in dealing with the complexities of our minds and the challenges life throws our way.

During the event, Johnson stated, “If we help each other understand that caring for our mental health is essential, perhaps that will turn practicing self-love and self-compassion into a vital part of living.”

The couple, Johnson and Martin, first sparked romance rumors in October 2017 and have been supportive partners since. Martin publicly dedicated the Coldplay song “My Universe” to Johnson during a London concert in October 2021, further solidifying their bond.
